5 Ways to Use Automated Email Marketing (2:10)

Last week we discussed how to collect email addresses. This week I want to discuss 5 ways you can use them effectively in your HVAC business.
Let's take a look.
Before we begin, I want to emphasize that we don't want to abuse email. If you constantly bombard your customers with email, especially sales driven messages, eventually they will be turned off. You need to respect your customer's email address and use it wisely.
I want to focus on ways that you can use email to make your HVAC business more efficient and create more value for your customers.
1) Send a "Before We Show" or "Appointment Confirmation" email. In this email confirm the appointment day and time, and provide any instructions for the customer. One company is using this opportunity to send a 10 second video introduction of the technician that we will be servicing their home. This builds trust and looks very professional.
2) Service Agreement Scheduling. How much time is wasted each year trying to schedule your service agreement customers? Not only can the system automate follow up, you can also group your customers by zip code so that you can minimize travel time and maximize the number of customer on a given day. (One example of the value of segmentation.)
3) Air Filter Reminders. See what type of air filter your customer has and offer to send them a reminder when it needs to be changed. Who knows, you may even get their filter business.
4) Customer Satisfaction Survey. Schedule the system to automatically send a survey to the customer the day after the appointment. This is a great way to solicit feedback without putting the customer on the spot.
5) Referral Requests. If the customer was happy with your performance, now is the perfect time to ask for a referral. The email system can automatically grade the survey and send the request when appropriate.
