Hi, Brian Starzec here. In this week's newsletter I wanted to talk about the latest figures on US Internet Usage and US Internet Video Usage. The video stats are pretty amazing. Let's take a look at a closer look
First, let's look at "active home Internet users", defined by the number of people that logged on in the last 30 days. Nielsen Online reports that for May the United States had over 150 million people.
This was a 1.31% growth over April, or a little over 2 million more people. This is just in the U.S. Compared to other nations, the US was in the middle of the pack with respect to % growth, but by far the largest in terms of number of people.
Now let's look at video usage.
Across all video sites, US Internet users viewed 16.8 Billion, yes Billion with a B, online videos in April. This was an increase of 16% over March. The average video length was 3.5 minutes. This means that in the United States, the average Internet user viewed 110 videos.
YouTube, a Google property, was the market leader with 6.8 billion videos viewed or 40% of the market, followed by Fox Interactive Media and Hulu.
The HVAC companies that start to understand that the Internet is not a fad, but is a new way to conduct business will leap frog all competition in our Industry. Incorporating videos into your website is simple and affordable.
The only question is will you make time to reach out to this audience?
